'Can I help you?' the barkeep
asked, his eyes wandering over the heavily armed
newcomer. Tabor looked at the man, smiled. 'Little too early for me,' he said. '
Then what you come in here for?' The barkeep
worried the side of his mouth with
his tongue and then spat a lump of gristle, left over from his last meal, onto the
counter. Again Tabor smiled, said, 'For the company I guess.' The barkeep
frowned, produced a half smoked cigar from behind one ear and placed it
between his teeth.
